ECCO Films Indonesia started in December 2007. The company is funded by Orlow Seunke and managed by Suryani Liauw.
ECCO Films Indonesia had its first film production in February 2008, titled JERMAL. The film was directed by Ravi Bharwani and co-directed by Rayya Makarim. It was premiered at the Pusan International Film Festival 2008. This film was also screened in and received awards from several international film festivals in the world.
On the educational side, ECCO Films Indonesia organizes practical workshops for fiction and documentary films for young professionals. With the support of the Royal Netherlands Embassy and the Putra Jethmal Foundation, this program was launched in 2008.
ECCO Films Indonesia also produces documentaries. The latest production is a documentary on Special Olympics Indonesia – a sports event for intellectually disabled children. ECCO Films Indonesia is currently working on a documentary on the topic of “Domestic Workers”, in cooperation with ILO; while preparing for its second feature film project.
